Dr. Richard Meyer Energy Meteorology and Solar Energy Expert Founder and Managing Director of Suntrace, Germany  More than 10 years experience in Concentra- ting Solar Power (CSP) research, engineering and project development  Expert for derivation of satellite-derived solar resources and GIS-based site selection  Developed internationally accepted methods and lead standardization of processes to pro- vide solar energy production data in best manner for allowing project finance of CSP plants  Provided expert opinions on solar resources for CSP projects with a total capacity of 550 MW, of which 100 MW in operation and another 100 MW under construction today  Since 2005 Representative of the Task “Solar Resource Knowledge Management” to the Executive Committee of SolarPACES (Solar Power and Chemical Energy Systems) within the International Energy Agency (IEA) From 2006 to 2009, Richard headed the technical analysis and energy yield teams of Epuron GmbH and SunTechnics (both subsidiaries of stock-listed Conergy Group), where he focused on concentrating solar power. From 1996 to 2006, Richard worked for DLR (German Aerospace Center), where he set up the satellite- based services SOLEMI and DLR-ISIS for analyzing potentials for CSP. From 2000 to 2004 he contributed to the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) ‘Solar and Wind Energy Resources Assessment’. In 2005 Richard was a visiting scientist to NASA’s project ‘Prediction of World Energy Resources’ POWER and the NASA-SSE (Surface meteorology and Solar Energy) project. He co-founded the virtual Institute of Energy Meteorology and the IEA Task ‘Solar Resource Knowledge Management’, which since 2005 he is representing to the SolarPACES ExCo. Dr. Richard Meyer holds a diploma in geophysics and a PhD in physics from Munich University. In his thesis he studied the climate impact of aircraft contrails by use of satellite data.
